Healthy 4-Ingredient Chocolate Mousse

If you're looking for a simple, nourishing dessert that feels indulgent without requiring a long list of ingredients, this chocolate mousse recipe is for you.

Made with protein-rich Greek yoghurt, cacao, and naturally sweetened with honey or maple syrup, this easy chocolate mousse comes together in just a few minutes. It's smooth, creamy, chocolatey, and makes a great snack, dessert, or even a special addition to lunchboxes.

One of my favourite things about this recipe is how versatile it is. You can keep it simple or customise it with different flavours and mix-ins depending on what you have on hand.

Serves 2-3

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Greek yoghurt

  • 2 tablespoons cacao powder

  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (or more to taste)

  • 1 tablespoon gelatin

  • ½ cup boiling water

    Instructions:

    1. Place the gelatin in a small bowl and pour over the boiling water. Stir well until completely dissolved.

    2. Add the Greek yoghurt, cacao powder, honey or maple syrup, and dissolved gelatin mixture to a blender or food processor.

    3. Blend until smooth and creamy.

    4. Pour the mixture into small serving glasses or jars.

    5. Refrigerate for at least 2–3 hours, or until set.

    6. Serve as is or top with fresh berries, shaved chocolate, cacao nibs, or chopped nuts.

    7. Store covered in the fridge for up to 4 days.

    Variations:

This recipe is incredibly easy to customise. Try adding:

    • 1 teaspoon vanilla powder or vanilla extract

    • A few drops of food-grade peppermint essential oil for a choc-mint version

    • A few drops of food-grade orange essential oil for a chocolate orange twist

    • Fresh or frozen berries stirred through the mousse

    • A sprinkle of cinnamon

    Dairy-Free Option:

  • Swap the Greek yoghurt for coconut yoghurt.

  • If you prefer a richer, more decadent mousse, you can also use coconut cream instead of yoghurt. This creates a silky, dessert-style mousse with a more traditional texture.
