Make Versus Buy: Seaweed Snacks

This is the second post in a new series of mine called ‘Make versus Buy’ where I share the cost difference of making versus buying your favourite store bought items. Plus you’ll get a recipe to go with each homemade version.

If you missed the first two posts, you can check them out here and here.

To buy a pack of these is $6.50 which works out to be 81c per pack of 6 sheets (or just over 13c per sheet). My homemade version costs $4.62 to make a whole batch which works out to be 35c per pack of 6 (or just over 5c per sheet).

These are super easy to make and you’ll save over half by making your own, plus you’ll be avoiding sunflower oil that all the store bought ones contain and all that packaging!

Ingredients are all worked out at Woolworths regular prices, so prices may vary slightly if you purchase ingredients on sale or a different brand.

I hope you found this useful!

Let me know in the comments below if you have any requests for a ‘Make versus Buy’ post on something you currently buy but want to make instead.
