The Easiest Nut Free Granola

If you’re after a simple, reliable granola that ticks all the boxes, this is the one to make.

It’s gluten-free, dairy-free and nut-free, made with pantry staples, and comes together in minutes. The ingredients are versatile, if you don’t have something on hand you can swap for something similar - just keep the dry-to-wet ratio the same for the best results.

We love this served over smoothies for a bit of crunch, or in a bowl with fresh fruit and yoghurt for an easy breakfast or snack.

The Easiest Nut Free Granola

Gluten free, dairy free, egg free, nut free

Makes 1 large jar

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sunflower seeds

  • 1 cup shredded coconut

  • 1 cup oats or buckwheat flakes

  • 1 cup pepitas (pumpkin seeds)

  • 1/4 cup honey

  • 1/4 cup coconut oil, melted

  • Pinch of salt

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

  • You can swap out the seeds/flakes for other combinations you love - just keep the dry-to-wet ratio the same for the best results.

Instructions:

  • Preheat your oven to 160°C and line a baking tray.

  • In a large bowl, combine the sunflower seeds, coconut, oats (or buckwheat flakes), pepitas, salt and cinnamon.

  • In a small bowl, mix together the honey and melted coconut oil.

  • Pour the wet ingredients over the dry ingredients and stir until everything is well coated.

  • Spread the mixture evenly onto your prepared tray, pressing it down slightly to help form clusters.

  • Bake for 15–20 minutes, or until lightly golden.

  • Remove from the oven and allow the granola to cool completely on the tray—this is what helps it form those crunchy clusters.

  • Once cooled, break into pieces and store in an airtight container.

  • Store in an airtight glass jar in the pantry—it will stay fresh for a couple of weeks.

    Tips:

  • Don’t stir while baking - if you want clusters—leave it to set and crisp up.

  • Let it cool completely before breaking it up. This step is key for crunch.

  • If using oats, make sure they are certified gluten-free if needed.
